Psg 299 neophasma subapterum.
Country of origin: Venezuela
Length(without leggs): male 4 cm, female 5-6 cm
Food: Privet, osmanthus, honeysuckle, plantain,lilac.
Adult after 4-6 months
Eggs: This is a very easy species to breed, 80-90% of the eggs hatches. This happens after 3-5 months. The eggs are produced sexually. Keep them humid on vermiculite, cocopeat,…. When you keep them in a non-ventilated box, spraying every two or three days. Watch out for mold!
Terrarium and care: This is a small species that doesn’t like big open spaces. It’s good to keep some couples in a cage from 30*30*30 cm. A faunabox is perfect. They like to hide, so some hiding places are recommended.
Extra info: This species is very afraid. But it gets very active when you open the cage? Just like psg 270 peruphasma schultei. But why is that so? Peruphasma schultei is by nature a very active insect. But neophasma subapterum gets active because it wants to find a hiding place. You can get them quiet again by holding your hands above the animal, so you can create a shadow. Also just like peruphasma schultei, this species gives a milkwhite, light irritating liquid when it feels threatened. But this happens not so often. This species is also very loyal to his partner, they stay in their copulation posture for a very long time. This species exist in a black and a red/darkbrown coloured variation.
