Psg 3 Bacillus rossius
Caresheet
Country of origin: Southern Europe, the Mediterranean region.
Food: Bramble, raspberry, oak, rose,...
Temperature: Roomtemperature is perfect for this species.
Humidity: the humidity of the room where you placed the terrarium is enough for Bacillus rossius. I never sprayed water.
Equipement: A cage of 30*30*30 cm or a small flexarium is recommended for approximately 8-10 adult animals. A paper towel on the bottom and a jar with foodplants is sufficient for this species.
Sex determination: This is not necessary, this species is parthenogenetic in culture. The adult females are approximately 8 cm long and they can be found, just like the nymphs, in different colours. (green, brown and red).
Incubation period: The eggs hatch after 2-3 months, but it may take longer. So don't throw your eggs away after 3 months, some of my eggs hatched after more than 5 months. Put them in a ventilated cage on vermiculite or a paper towel. You don't have to spray water on them.
Lifespan (nymph): The nymphs are adult after ± 3 months.
breeding speed: this species lays a lot of eggs, and almost all the nymphs hatch and become adult. And this in about a half year (if the nymphs hatch soon). It's a very productive species.
Special behaviour: By day the animals are quiet, and they stretch their front legs so that they look more like a branch. By twilight, they start to walk around. It's an easy and not a very special species, but it's interesting to watch them and let them walk on your hand.
special (outer) characteristics: Adult animals have pink 'armpits'. The nymphs and adults can be green, brown or red.

Difficulty: 1/10 (a very nice and easy species) (1=Very easy, 10=Only for experts.)
