Psg 4 Sipyloidea Sipylus
Caresheet
Country of origin: Madagascar
Food: Bramble,raspberry,(summer-,winter-,american-,stone-)oak, rose, hazelnut,..(this species is polyphagous, so experimenting with food is good)
Temperature: room temperature or higher(+18°c) is recommanded.
Humidity: 2/3 times spraying a week is good. Especially the nymphs like this humidity because they need it to molt.
Equipement: This is an easy species that doesn't require lots of care.Kitchen paper on the floor is well. But watch out: this specie sticks her eggs to the glass, the leafs,.. So it's usefull to put some cottonwool in a corner of the cage, because then the animals will place most of the eggs on this. A little bit ventilation is good.
Sex determination: There are only females in this specie, and they become 8-10 cm long.
Breeding: Parthenogenetic.
Incubation period: The eggs hatch after 2-3 months.Don't keep too many, because almost all of them hatches. If you want to have 5 adult animals at the end, than 20 eggs are enough. You can spray the eggs sometimes, but that's not really necessary.
Number of molts: The animals molt 6 times.
Lifespan (nymph): They are adult after about 4 months.
Lifespan (adult): When they are adult, they can still live about 1 year.
breeding speed: the animals are adult after a short time and lay eggs two weeks after their final moult. It's a very productive specie.
Special behaviour: When they are disturbd, the adult females fly away or give of a liquid that smells like potatoes. The best is to wash your hands to lose the smell. This is a very active species after disturbing and they run away. The nymph just pretend to be dead.
special (outer) characteristics: The females have very beautiful pink wings from about 4.5 cm long. But not al the females have pink wings, on the picture the female has white wings. The nymphs doesn't have these wings. The
(sub)adult animals are brown, the nymphs are green.
Difficulty:1-2(a very easy and productive specie (1=Very easy, 10=Only for experts.)
