Psg 73 phenacephorus cornucervi
Caresheet
Country of origin: Sabah
Food: filbert, bramble, ivy, raspberry, oak, rose
Temperature: keep this species on room temperature.
Humidity: Psg 73 likes a humid environment, so spraying each day is recommended.
Equipement: a standard terrarium (3x length of the stick insect for the height, and 2x the lenght for the width and the dept). A (upright) faunabox is also perfect. For this species it's enough to put some paper towel on the floor and to place the food in the middle of the terrarium.
Sex determination: the males of phenacephorus cornucervi are thin and brown. They have a curved back and long antennae. They are 6-7 cm long. The females exist in many colours: black, brown, beige,... They have a many flaps and some have little green 'mosses' on their head. The females are 8 cm long.
Breeding: the animals produce their eggs sexually, but if you have no males they can also produce them parthenogenetically. (but that's not really recommended).
Incubation period:2-3 months on room temperature. Keep the eggs slightly humid (spray every 2-3 days).
Lifespan (nymph): the nymphs are adult after approximately 5-7 months.
Lifespan (adult): The adult animals live about a half year after their final mold.
breeding speed: this species grows fast and lays a lot of eggs. Almost all the eggs hatch and the nymphs become very easy adult. I have 20 adult animals from 40 eggs.
special (outer) characteristics: this is really a wonderful species. With it's colours and flaps, it's camouflage is awesome.
